If you are visiting Washington, be sure to take a tour of Mount Saint Helens, an active volcano located in Skamania County. Located 96 miles south of Seattle and 53 miles north of Portland, the most deadly and economically destructive volcanic eruption occurred on May 18, 1980.
Washington is also home to some of the most beautiful islands in North America. Whidbey Island is a short drive north of Seattle and is home to Coupeville, the second oldest town in Washington. Olympia is the capital city.
