Sequoia National Park California

Sequoia borders Kings Canyon National Park in northern California and is named for the towering coastal redwood trees found in the park. These amazing trees can live for over 2,000 years and are the tallest trees on the planet.

The park covers a large area with varied elevations and so the weather depends on your location in the park. Be prepared with layered clothing and rain gear as you will likely be traveling through many different climate types during your trip.

For a great hike go to the Giant Forest in Sequoia National Park and hike the Big Trees Trail. The trail is an easy hike that has signs describing the ecology of the sequoia forests and offers views of the monstrous trees. In the summer the area is also full of wild-flowers.
