Philadelphia Museum Of Art Philadelphia

This is one of the finest art museums in the USA, which often houses special exhibits from artists like Salvador Dali. You may also recognize the steps that lead up to the building from the film Rocky. There is even a statue of Mr. Balboa himself outside the museum steps. The bronze statue is 8 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 1,500 pounds.

The museum is one of the largest in the United States and was founded over 125 years ago. Plans for the museum began as part of the Centennial Exposition of 1876 in Fairmount Park, which was the first official world's fair in the United States. Around that time, the Pennsylvania State Legislature had started planning a permanent building that would serve as the exposition's art gallery.

Since those beginnings, the museum has grown immensely. It contains more than 225,000 pieces of art and several changing exhibitions. Past exhibitions include "Ike Taiga and Tokuyama Gyokuran: Japanese Masters of the Brush" and "Contemporary Art on Paper."
