Niagara Falls are a set of huge and spectacular falls that straddle the the border between Canada and United States and are the most powerful falls in North America. They are separated by Goat Island, which offers many opportunities for picnicking, walking, photo ops, history, and more!
Horse Shoe Falls, in Canada, are the most spectacular. The Canadian side offers excellent views of American Falls, the smaller Bridal Veil Falls, and Horse Shoe Falls.
The twin towns of Niagara Falls, Canada and Niagara Falls in America offer endless fun for all the family. From towering Casinos, a street that has been transformed into an amusement park, boat rides under the falls (Maid of the Mist),trips to the Cave of the Winds, (where you can actually stand under part of the falls on the Hurricane deck!), the Journey Behind the Falls, as well as shuttle cars which cross the gorge from Canada to America.
The surrounding area is great for hiking, walking or cycling with a national park, beautiful botanic gardens with thousands of butterflies on display and walks following the river and gorge.
In New York, be sure to check out the Niagara Aquarium, and catch a sea lion show!
The New York side also features a bit of a "roadside attraction" in the Dare Devil Museum. This gem is located in a convenience store, is free of charge, and is comprised of the owner's personal collection of daredevil history and materials.
On the Canadian side, don't pass up a chance to see the Aviary! It is the world's largest free-flying aviary, and is home to hundreds of types of birds, and even some reptiles and amphibians.
