Leicester Square - pronounced "Luster" Square - is known as the "theatre land" of London. The area is filled with cinemas, including such major cinemas as the Odeon and the Empire.
There are often movie premieres held in Leicester Square, so be on the look out for some of your favorite celebs. There is also an area where stars with leave their handprints, much like the Walk of Fame outside of Grauman's Chinese Theater in Los Angeles.
If you are looking for tickets to shows, stop by Leicester Square's Official London Half-Price Theatre Ticket Booth, which sells tickets at discounted prices. Beware of the numerous imitator ticket booths in the area, though, many with similar-sounding names and the word "official" in the title.
If you're short on money, try contacting the theatre and volunteering to be an usher. With a little work, you can see shows for free!
