This capital city is home to two famous authors, Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe (author of Uncle Tom's Cabin). Both homes are located in Hartford and are available for touring. Other sights to see are the Wadworth Atheneum and Bushnell Park.
This city was founded by Dutch traders in the 1600's. After they abandoned thier post, English settlers arrived in 1635. The town was founded by Reverand Thomas Hooker. This town has been the site of many changes in American history including the Hartford Convention in 1814 which discussed secession from the U.S. There are still many buildings from these historical eras around today.
