Located in Madison County, Ala., the Green Mountain Nature Trail is a 72-acre park that was completed in 1975. It has a 2.25 mile walking trail, a pavilion, a chapel, picnic tables, the Cambron Covered Bridge, Skye Lake and accessible restrooms.
In the park, you will find Alabama's largest and oldest Champion Elm tree. You can also stop along the way and take a look at the original cabin of Charles Green, the homesteader that Green Mountain was named after.
Access to the park is free to the public. You can reserve the pavilion for picnics and family gatherings. Fishing is available at Skye Lake for a small fee from Monday through Friday.
