Dothan Alabama

Known as the "Peanut Capital of the World," Dothan harvests peanuts within 75 miles of the city. These harvests are equal to one-fourth of the entire peanut crop in the United States.

To celebrate the cash crop that saved the South when the boll weavil destroyed cotton, the city holds an annual festival in honor of the peanut, The National Peanut Festival.

Dothan really is out to win you over with attractions such as the World's Smallest Block, Peanuts Around Town, Maria's Vineyard? and more. When you finish all that sightseeing, stop at one of the city's many fine restaurants such as the Mikata Japanese Steakhouse, the Old Mill, the Fountain Room, Old Mexico, or Dobb's for some real down-home cooking.
