Many, many years ago, folks from the city bought vacation places along Timber Creek in New Jersey. These places were transformed into full-time homes and soon little towns like Deptford, Gloucester County were born. When more people began to migrate from the city into South Jersey, the rural farm landscape of Deptford quickly changed. The Deptford Mall was the first place in this town to pave the way to commerical development. Residents and visitors still flock to "The Mall" for a pretzel or a new outfit. With trendy stores, like the Gap and Macy's, Deptford remains the Gloucester County's shopping place.
Because of the area's booming businesses, there was a need for places to stay while you visited Deptford and surrounding towns. Deptford answered the need, and now they have Marriott Residences along Route 41. At the base of the inn is Chicago's Pizza. This place is a favorite for the locals and visitors. Trying to get a table in there on a Friday night may be tough, so be prepared.
Hungry from your journey to New Jersey? Don't worry. Deptford has great restaurants to cater to any appetite. Routes 41, 42 or 55 will take to Deptford's eating center. Adelphia's Restaurant, especially their buffet, is highly recommended. For other popular eateries, try Olive Garden, Bonefish Girl or Red Lobster. A personal favorite...Pasta Cheech by the AMC Deptford 6 Movie Theater. After you fill up, walk off the calories at Target or "The Mall."
