Channel Islands are a series of five protected islands near the coast of the California mainland. The islands include those of Santa Cruz, Santa Catalina, and Santa Barbara and are inhabited by a variety of marine and island wildlife. One such species is the nearly extinct island fox, which with the help of park services and wildlife experts is trying to make a come back.
The weather here is fairly constant year round with an average temperature in the 60s. However, most of the rain and storms happen in the winter months.
Channel Islands is one of the least visited parks in America due to its island location with few options for transportation. If you are looking for a visit away from the crowds of more famous parks like Yosemite then perhaps Channel Islands is what you are looking for.
