Introduction
About a 3-hour car ride south of Chicago, Champaign sits comfortably next to its sister city Urbana. Like most college towns, Champaign is known mostly for the the University of Illinois campus that it houses, as well as the technological developments made on campus.
History
Champaign was originally considered a part of Urbana until the 1860s. It wasn't until after the founding of the University in 1867, that Champaign became more well-known. In more recent years, Champaign has grown in size due to massive amounts of construction on the school, as well as additions of more commercial retail stores and restaurants.
