Go to the capital city of Cayenne and take in it's tropical ambiance and French-colonial style buildings reminiscent of New Orleans’ French Quarter. The Avenue du Général de Gaulle is a main commercial street, where Cayenne’s hotels are located. In the center of the city, there is a Botanical Garden that puts a spotlight on the tropical plants and foliage of the region. Musée Départmental, Franconie Museum, Museum of Guyanese Cultures, and the Félix Eboué Museum are all museums worth touring. From late February to early March, Cayenne has it's famous, annual Carnaval, which features all-night costume balls and Carribean-style parades.
