Catalina Island California

Catalina Island: A 45-minute ferry ride from the Los Angeles area, Catalina Island is one of eight Channel Islands that line the coast of Southern California and is the only inhabited and tourist-friendly island. Ferries sail into Catalina’s only town, Avalon, where guests can shop for souvenirs, eat, rent a golf cart or bike (cars are not allowed on the island—residents get around by bike or golf cart). Outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, snorkeling, and kayaking are also popular on the island. Catalina makes a good day trip or weekend trip.
