Castle Of San Servando Toledo

All that remains of Toledo's once impenetrable defenses is the Castle of San Servando. The original castle was built as far back as the time of the Visigoths, but when Alfonso VI took over the land he rebuilt the castle on the old grounds. The fortifications were rebuilt twice more, as expansions, and the final building contained many Arabic influences like a large central square and turrets. In 1983 the Castle housed the first regional government chamber of Castilla la Mancha, but the rooms have since been changed for tours and to accommodate travelers as a youth hostel.
