Bishop is located on the eastern side of California, nestled against the Sierra Nevada mountains.
About an hour north of Bishop, you'll find Mono Lake?, a beautiful body of water populated with tufas, which are limestone structures that have developed over the years. Mono Lake is widely known in the photography world as a fantastic place to capture eerie lakescapes, so if you want to capture a great photo of your own, make plans to be at Mono Lake early in the morning or at sunset.
Be sure to check with the park ranger service before attempting to cross the mountain range. Even in late spring, the roads may be closed due to snow.
