Anniston is the commercial and industrial center for Calhoun County, Alabama. Blessed with a beautiful location, this city is situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge portion of the Appalachian Mountains. The Blue Ridge Mountains received their name from the lovely blue tint that is apparent when viewing them from a distance. That being said, gorgeous scenery and easy access to the Appalachian Mountains is only part of what Anniston has to offer.
Lovers of culture and entertainment will definitely appreciate that the Alabama Shakespeare Festival was founded in the city in 1972. Moreover, as home to the Anniston Museum of Natural History and the Berman Museum of World History Anniston offers art exhibits and educational experiences for the whole family.
Music lovers will be thrilled to know that the Knox Concert Series regularly brings world-renowned musical and dance productions to the area. Furthermore, since 2004, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra has performed a series of outdoor concerts at the former Fort McClellan.
