Alcazar Castle Segovia

The impenetrable fortress probably dates back to Roman times but the first documented record of the Alcazar is from the 12th century. It lies at the junction of the Eresma and Clamores rivers, and was built atop a rock as a testament to its military status. The castle has seen plenty of its own history as the residence of Alfonso VIII and as the site where Isabella was announced Queen of Castile. The architecture has been adjusted many times, but now comfortably remains a gothic style. Many secret passages have been found that lead to the river and many of Segovia's main city sights.
