Vancouver Washington

Come here if you want to be a leech on Oregon's economy (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

Nestled on the other side of the Columbia River from Portland, Vancouver is a town that makes its living on taking from a city and giving nothing back but cheap housing.

You see, the residents of Vancouver have a special situation. They don't have to pay the high property taxes that the people of Portland do, but they do get the greatest benefit of Oregon by living on its border - they don't have to pay sales tax if they drive a few miles to the south and shop in Jantzen Beach.

That being said, Vancouver doesn't have much to offer aside from one of the best fireworks displays in the country on the Fourth of July and a decent casino a few miles north of it in La Center.
