The Royal Palace is located in the tree-lined Parc du Bruxelles and is open to tours during the summer months only. The Royal Galleries have been recently renovated. A fabulous glass-roofed shopping arcade built in 1847, it is one of the most dazzling places in Brussels, showcasing high fashion, art, fine food, and dining. Nearby the Royal Palace is the Place du Trône, marked by a stately statue of Leopold II riding a horse, and the Palais des Académies, a former residence of the Prince of Orange.
