This grand rectangular plaza is located at the center of Madrid and is the perfect place to go to relax midday after some sightseeing. Lounge about at one of the cafes and enjoy some tapas and sangria. The plaza held lots of importance throughout spanish history, serving as a military parade ground, a gathering place during a crisis or during a fiesta, soccer games, bullfights and a spot for public executions. Despite its different uses, the Plaza has remained of utmost important to the Madrid Community and its nine entrances will never be closed.
