The Palacio Real is the Royal Palace of Madrid, and is the official residence of the Spanish Monarch. Currently, it is not used as a daily home but instead for special state occasions. The Palace houses a rich array of artwork, from Velazquez to Carvaggio to Goya, and a wide range of antique collections like the royal armory, tapestries and porcelains. You should also visit the gardens, like the Campo del Moro, and the Teatro Real which the operahouse off of the east facade.
