INTRODUCTION
Just off the Jersey shore in Ocean County is a long strip of land appropriately called Long Beach Island. This island is a great place for family, summer fun. By day, tan on the sand or boogie board in the waves. By night, walk down the shore and listen to the soothing rumble of the ocean. There is no boardwalk, so it is more peaceful than the more busy and populated beaches along the shore. Along with the beach, there is also many activities such as miniture golfing and an amusement park with fun rides for all.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Traffic is an inevitable hassle when traveling down to the Jersey shore. On a nice day, listen to the traffic reports and be prepared to sit in the car along with other out-of-towners, or Bennys as they are called on the shore, as everyone is looking for a fun day in the sun.
HISTORY
Long Beach Island was once used as a whaling and fishing center. Since then it was transformed from a hunting and fishing playground for people from the city. At one point, the only way you could get to the island was by boat until the causeway was built. The causeway is still the only other way to get onto the island.
