Once an oceanside resort in northern New Jersey, Asbury Park was abandoned due to many businesses moving out. However, since 2002 there has been a resurgence of residents due to development projects in the area. In 2005, the Casino's walkway re-opened, as did the boardwalk pavillions.
Asbury Park was once a haven for musicians, most famous among them Bruce Springsteen, whose debut album was titled "Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ."
Asbury Park was also home to the Palace Amusments Park, known for its grinning clown-like face.
